Laura Coombs is a graphic designer and creative director in New York, and a Lecturer at Princeton. She is also the head of design for New Museum.

Coombs maintains an independent design and teaching practice. She has lectured and served as a critic at design schools including the Yale School of Art, Princeton, Columbia GSAPP, Cooper Union, Werkplaats Typografie, Sci-Arc, and the Yale School of Architecture. Her work has been recognized by the AIGA, ADC, TDC, Tokyo TDC, and the Yale School of Art.

In 2017, she graduated from the Yale School of Art with an MFA in Graphic Design. Previously, she graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree, and worked as an architect in New York for clients including Herman Miller, Diller Scofido + Renfro, Zaha Hadid, Vito Acconci, and Pentagram, among others.

On January 1, 2020, Coombs formed CSS, Inc.—a collaborative strategic entity—with Laurel Schwulst and Mindy Seu. CSS consults for corporations and institutions, and maintains its own internal collaborative research practice within areas of interest including the web, gifts, citation, and publishing.
